Massage FAQs

A chair massage is a 10, 15, 20 or 30 minute massage that focuses on the high tension areas of the neck, back, shoulders, arms and hands. The massage is performed on an ergonomically designed portable massage chair. You sit on the massage chair facing forward, with your head in a face rest. You don’t remove any clothing. Chair massage produces therapeutic results quickly by concentrating on the areas of greatest tension. Great for groups.

A chair massage is a massage ranging between 10-60 minutes. It focuses primarily on back, neck, shoulders, and arms whereas a table massage generally focuses on the whole body. Table massages typically range from 1-2 hours, but 90 minute massages are available too.  You can also split table massage time into 30 minute increments for groups.  Chair massage can be given anywhere and is fully clothed, whereas table massage you will be asked to disrobe to your comfort level. Oils or lotions are used for table massage whereas oils are not used for chair massage although an absorbent lotion may be used on arms during a chair massage. Chair massage is given on a specially designed massage chair while table massage is given in a reclining position on a specially designed massage table.

Not much - only a small 5' x 6' area is needed for the therapist to set up the massage chair and have enough room to move around comfortably.

A small 7' x 7' area is needed for the therapist to set up the massage table and have enough room to move around comfortably. We can fit into almost any hotel room.

No. During a chair massage, you remain fully clothed, though you may be asked to remove a jacket or obstructive jewelry.

When receiving a table massage we want to make sure that we can get to all areas of the body. You are welcome to leave anything on that makes you feel comfortable, however, we suggest removing any undergarments so that we can work the entire back.

No oils are used in chair massage. Sometimes a light and absorbent lotion is applied during hand massage. Please let your therapist know if you prefer no lotion, or have any medical conditions or allergies.

Before each massage session begins, the massage therapists will wash their hands and clean and disinfect the massage chair.  After each massage, this is repeated. Face covers for the chair are used only once and discarded and a fresh face-rest cover will be applied.

Just ask! Our massage therapists are trained to adapt to a wide variety of body types and sensitivities to pressure.

At the beginning of the massage the therapist will ask if you have any specific concerns. If you'd like the massage therapist to focus on one specific area, just ask.

Not at all! It's easy to mistake a sense of relaxation for fatigue. In fact, research has shown chair massage recipients to be more alert and focused afterwards.

Gratuities are not expected or necessary, but of course they are an excellent way to let the massage therapists know they've done an outstanding job. If you choose to tip, the average amount is 10-20%.

Absolutely. Massage can be very beneficial for women during pregnancy. However, be sure to let the massage therapist know you are pregnant in so they can assure your safety and comfort. This is especially true if you are in the first trimester, when it may not be obvious that you are pregnant.

Yes. Medical contraindications include but are not limited to: uncontrolled hypertension, uncontrolled diabetes, fractures, herniated discs, malignancy, numbness or tingling in any part of the body, especially the hands and feet. Please inform your massage therapist of any acute or ongoing health conditions before the chair massage.

You will sit and kneel facing the therapist. Your face will be rest on a face cradle and your arms will rest in front of you on an arm rest. If you are not able to kneel, no problem. The leg rests can be removed.

Atlanta Mobile Massage and Wellness does not just hire anyone. We carefully screen, interview and check references for all massage therapists. We also interview each therapist practically by another massage therapist so we know you are getting the best therapists your city has to offer.

For conventions, trade-shows and events, we recommend starting with 10-minute chair massage sessions and adjusting according to traffic. For corporate massage, 15-30 minutes is generally preferable.

For larger events, a booth attendant or greeter can be included in your quote – just let us know what your needs are and we'll be sure to accommodate you.

Saying you’re too inflexible to do yoga is like saying you’re too dirty to take a bath. Everyone starts somewhere, and the more yoga and stretching you do, the more your body will feel great and become more flexible. We encourage you not to judge yourself and take it one pose at a time. You will find some poses very easy, and some difficult. That’s the same for everyone. Don’t worry. It gets easier the more you do.  Enjoy the journey.

Yoga is created to challenge you at exactly the level you are at. There will be some poses that are challenging and some that are easy. It is different for each person.

Don’t worry, no one can! Do what feels good to you. Take it one pose at a time. You will find some poses very easy and some very challenging.  This is natural. No one is judging you, not even yourself.

We are happy to do private lessons for 1 or lessons for large groups. We keep the large classes at 25:1 so we can make sure that everyone is doing the poses in the best way possible. If you have a bigger group, we will have a yoga instructor as well as a yoga assistant at an additional cost.

Very little space is actually required. We can find a way to make it work. Just let us know if you want corporate yoga or traditional mat yoga, how many people, and we can take it from there.
